REEF CONTROL GROUNDING PROBE

The Red Sea ReefControl Grounding Probe is a dedicated, universal safety device designed to protect both the hobbyist and the aquarium livestock from stray voltage and the risk of electrical shock. It is considered an essential component for any marine or reef aquarium system where water conductivity can exacerbate electrical hazards. Features and Functionality • Essential Safety Device: The probe's primary function is to provide a direct, safe path-to-ground for any electrical potential (voltage) present in the aquarium water. This instantly neutralizes electrical charge, making the water safe for you to handle. • Eliminates Stray Voltage: Stray voltage is a low-level electrical charge often induced in the water by pumps, heaters, and other electrical equipment. By introducing a direct ground, the probe effectively removes these stray volts. • Reduces Livestock Stress: Low-level stray voltage is a known environmental stressor for fish and corals. By eliminating this charge, the grounding probe helps create a more natural and less stressful environment, potentially leading to better health and coloration. • Completely Reef-Safe: The probe tip is made from 100% pure, corrosion-resistant Titanium. This material will not rust, degrade, or leach any harmful substances into your saltwater. • Weighted Design: The probe is weighted to ensure the corrosion-resistant titanium tip remains submerged and stable in the water (typically placed in the sump). • Integration with ReefControl Power: The grounding probe connects directly to a dedicated port on the ReefControl Power smart power center. This connection ensures the probe is properly grounded and integrated with your main control system. If a significant current leak occurs, this connection—when used in conjunction with a GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) protected circuit—will safely trip the GFCI, immediately shutting down the power and preventing a major electrical hazard. The Red Sea ReefControl Grounding Probe is an affordable, non-intrusive, and highly recommended piece of safety equipment for any aquatic system.
